Not too long ago I was perusing through the USA Today and I found the picture you see to the left. I'll give you a couple of seconds to take a look at it. Ok, now that you have, what were some of the thoughts that came to mind: 1) Expected 2) Those sports that rise to the top were those that were imported, etc. Well, true to the two aforementioned reasons, but as you might have deduced from the title of this post, I found a third reason which I think is/could be pretty interesting. American's are ethnocentric. No its not a criticism, but based on previous (academic) research this rings true over and over. So with this in mind, I then thought, well what sports don't have that strong of a following? Then I thought what sport has been losing its following lately? The answer were the top three, which happened to be the ones with the most players born outside the US.
